RESOLVE, a conservation nonprofit, builds TrailGuard AI, a small camera hidden along trails that spots people, vehicles and certain animals and sends an image alert to rangers within moments. It has been deployed or trialled in 15 countries, including the Serengeti and tiger habitat in India and Nepal.

Why it mattersParks are huge and rangers are few. A camera that only calls for attention when something matters lets a small team respond to poaching, illegal logging and dangerous wildlife encounters in time.

What they learned

No learnings shared yet. The most useful thing on any entry is what the team tried and what happened, including what didn't work.

If you worked on this, claim the entry and add the first one.

The problem

Poaching, illegal logging and conflict between wildlife and nearby communities, in parks too large to patrol fully.

What the AI does

A chip inside the camera checks each picture for people, vehicles and selected species, and sends only those images to rangers over mobile, radio or satellite networks.
